Log tables

You may have heard of log tables. A log table is very useful together with an antilog table. You can use this log-antilog table.

The easiest thing to do with a log table is multiply numbers.

2 × 3 = 6

Remember that logarithms are exponents; to have an exponent you have to have a base. The log table accessed by the link above uses base 10. Using powers of 10, the above multiplication is written like this:

( 10 log 2 ) ( 10 log 3 ) = 10 log 6
